Sales Training Learn About Micro Expressions in Washington DC
Micro expressions are defined as brief, involuntary expressions which are shown on your face based on what you are feeling at that moment in time. Micro expressions occur unconsciously and even when someone is trying to hide what they are feeling or when someone doesn't know exactly what they are feeling. A micro expression lasts for less than 1/10th of a second.
All of our micro expressions show in each of the seven universal emotions:
- Anger
- Contempt
- Disgust
- Fear
- Happiness
- Sadness
- Surprise
Many mistakes we make in business are from a lack of information or due to a wrong interpretation of someone's message. You might believe that your business partner is smiling in agreement but actually they are showing contempt.
Your clients express micro expressions as well. For instance, if you are able to read your clients' micro expressions you are putting your company in a much better position to understand your clients' needs.
And what happens when you are able to understand your clients' needs? Sales and improved service. By recognizing micro expressions, you can accommodate your clients' needs accordingly which will help your business improve.
